A house fire in the community of Woodside wreaked havock on four homes, Friday, June 17th.

The blaze started around 6pm on Woodside Boulevard, and according to witnesses, only took about 10 minutes to completely engulf the home where it began.

Woodside resident Ayla Weemaels was out at a movie with her boyfriend and his little sister, when news started pouring in of the fire in her neighbourhood.

"I just wanted to make sure that my cat Simba was okay, so I just rushed here [home], and then I saw my neighbours and they were like 'no its in your backyard', so I ran to my room and I saw the back four houses on fire" she said.

Residents were evacuated from 26 neighbouring homes, with gas and power being disconnected from the affected area.

A reception center has been set up at Genesis place, to assist those who have been displaced.

The official cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
