The City of Airdrie and surrounding area remain under a winter storm warning as a result of today's blast of snow and wind.

Environment Canada says that winds could gust from 60 to 90km/hr, along with at least 10 centimetres of snow, even more for other cities in Southern Alberta.

The wintery conditions are making commuting very difficult for those going in and out of the city. Several collisions were reported on the QE2 this morning, including one northbound near Crossfield.

Several cars have reportedly hit the ditch on the road between Calgary and Red Deer.

Other collisions took place within city limits today in areas such as Eat Lake near Bert Church High School and the 567.
