Last Sunday (July 23rd), a big windstorm caused some trees to break and knock out power to hundreds of residents.

While Fortis Alberta did their job to clear the trees and restore power, the work only began for the City's Parks Department.

"What we do is go to a bottom to top complete inspection of them," said Team Lead Kevin Brinson, "We would look for stress cracks, more crackage, splits, hanging limbs, heavy weights...stuff like that."

Brinson said once trees are knocked down due a windstorm, it's their job to make sure it's clear and that no further breakage will take place.

Sometimes though, they won't always see these damages and that's where you can help out.

"Sometimes we don't see them right away, when it does come after a major windstorm. We might not see what we call a hanger...those are the ones we really want to make sure we take care of right away because another windstorm could knock em down."
