The Airdrie RCMP want you to know the ways in which they can help you after a public review conducted by the City of Airdrie indicated many residents don't know how to reach Airdrie RCMP in non-emergency situations.

The Airdrie RCMP is available 24/7 for calls and inquiries. The non-emergency line can be reached at 403-945-RCMP (7267). You can call the number at any time for any non-emergency situation.

Cpl. Gina Slaney with the Airdrie RCMP says one of the biggest things to be taken from the review was that residents are generally unaware of how to contact RCMP in non-emergency situations.

"One of the concerns that came up from the survey conducted by the city was that citizens think they cannot contact the RCMP for non-emergency situations, that's not true you can contact us at any time through the non-emergency line."

Some residents are unsure as to what is considered a non-emergency situation.

"Things that would be considered a non-emergency would be if police attendance isn't crucial, meaning things are not happening right now, the suspect is no longer there. For example, if you wake up in the morning and find out your vehicle was entered unlawfully but the suspect is no longer there, that would be considered a non-emergency.

Did you know that the Airdrie RCMP has a Crime Reduction Unit that is out on the streets day and night? Since 2015, property crime has decreased in Airdrie.

"This unit is an extra unit on top of regular members that are on the streets day and night dressed in normal clothing so people don't know they are officers. This Crime Reduction Unit is doing great things and that is probably a big contributing factor as to why crime is decreasing."

You should call 911 and use the emergency line when a fire, police or ambulance is required immediately.

You should call the non-emergency line at 403-945-RCMP when there is a non-urgent situation where immediate police attendance is not crucial, break-ins or thefts in which you are certain the suspect is no longer there, a suspicious vehicle, person or activity or a noise complaint.
