Classic cars trucks, vans, motorcycles and other interesting vehicles took up the green space at the park while attendees strolled among the vehicles, bid at the silent auction and dined on delicious mini doughnuts.

The weather had a definite impact on the event. 200 cars were there, lower than the usual attendance, and the rain kept some away in the morning. But, president of Airdrie's Time Traveler Car Club Jane Robison, said the rain couldn't keep them away for long.

"This event brings this community together in so many. It was a cool day today, Mother Nature was a little chilly. We have had about 3,000 people at last count to the park. It brings this community together. We offer the ability to stroll through the park, bike through the park, we have Elvis at the park, and it's all about building the community. The people that come here all across America bring their cars and they support our community. They shop at our stores, they go to our restaurants, they stay in our hotels, and they get to see what a beautiful place Airdrie is to live."

Robison said that the event is supporting five charities this year: the Airdrie Boy Scouts, Airdrie Food Bank, Veterans Food Bank, Will for Riding, and the Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation.

"All of the money that we raise at this show go to support the charities around Airdrie. All of the money that we collected is divided among the five charities that we support this year," said Robison. "Will for Riding is an organization which promotes horse riding and therapy for children with disabilities. We have our AIWF, these are the folks that we go to when we have injured ducks, pigeons, deer and bears. This is the group that we go to that rescues them. We take a portion of these funds and we give it right back to them."

However, despite the efforts of the crew, it looked like the weather did affect the event.

"It is August, and it is ten degrees out here, so much perseverance and stamina by the folk that showed up. We usually have six to seven thousand people through the grounds on a sunny day, but today we (got rain) first thing in the morning. It cleared around 9 or 10 o'clock when we thought it would, but we've still had a cold day for August the tenth."

However, it's not all bad news. The show still went on and the participants still had a chance to win in their competitions.

"The Time Travelers are known for all of their awards, it's part of giving back. So, they get a plaque, they get a beautiful plaque that any car enthusiast is proud to hang up on their wall. We give away a ton of awards at this show for the people that attend. Usually, there's a little bit of a competition with these folks. We have clubs from across North America that show up and we tend to put them all together and we vote on the best club. It's all about camaraderie, it's all about people sharing what they've got and what they love."

For anyone who might be interested in becoming part of Airdrie's car club, Robison encourages them to reach out.

"You do not have to have a vehicle to join us, just a love and a passion for the community that we live in and for the cars that you see driving around."
