Crews are set to move into the new Veterans Fire Station as soon as Monday, July 11th.

The $5.8 million station is completed and situated in the community of Williamstown, and serves as a relocation for the Main Street Fire Station.

“We believe that we are going to be able to effectively serve the residents of the entire City of Airdrie, but more specifically in this Northwest quadrant.” said Deputy Fire Chief, Garth Rabel, .

Alberta Health Services is leasing a portion of the station, which has room for two ambulances. The EMS portion of the building will be separated from the fire station.

Response time from the new station, is estimated to be about four minutes.

The station measures approximately 13,000 square feet, and features three bays with 14-foot doors, living spaces, dormitories, a fully-equipped fitness area, and office spaces.

“Any new facility is beneficial for the staff and the community,” said Rabel, “It’s a beautiful building, very well built for our purposes.”

Once open, the station will eventually feature tours and other educational activities.
