Four of Airdrie's finest firefighters began their weekend campout for Muscular Dystrophy today (March 1st).

At around 11:00 am, the four men climbed the ladder of a firetruck to the rooftop of The Toad and Turtle in Airdrie, where they'll be until Sunday morning.

One of those firefighters is Martin Medynski, who says he's looking forward to the campout.

"I'm feeling good. Excited. Ready to brave the elements, the weather forecast looks pretty good. A little bit of snow but it should be ok."

This is Medynski's first time taking part in the event, which has taken place in Airdrie for the last few years. Medynski shares how much the firefighters have raised in that time.

"This is Airdrie's fifth year doing it. Last year, they were able to raise 17 thousand for MD and this year we're hoping to break that. Over the last four years, we were able to raise 59 thousand."

Once again, several businesses stepped up to help the Airdrie Fire Department in their campout including Mattamy Homes and Cabelas, who supplied their tents for the weekend.

The Fire Department is looking for donations throughout the next few days to help them reach their goal.

"If people would like to come and make a donation, we'll be lowering the boot down off the roof for cash donations," says Medynski, "you can also make a donation at Airdrie Firefighters.com"

The Firefighters will complete their campout and come down at 11:00 am on Sunday, March 4th.
