Although not being coined as the Comedy Festival, Cochranites will still be able to enjoy two nights of laughs July 23 and 24.

Event organizer, Jake Hirsch was hoping to bring the second annual Comedy Festival to the Cochrane community, but had to cut it short due to change of venues and permitting.

"We had to cancel the Comedy Festival because of permits and weather, but we managed to salvage two wonderful shows. Saturday we have a live show at the Hideout Pub it is featuring Todd Ness who is upcoming in the comedy world, and special guest host Garrett Clark, and we have tons of guest spots. Sunday we have another amazing show at Townhall Public House that one is featuring Garrett Clark as headlining, Dion Arnold from Edmonton, and Brett Forte from Calgary."

Maneuvering at the last minute, has had it's challenges but Hirsch says the demand for Comedy is still there. Both evenings are selling out well, with less than 20 seats still available for the Saturday night show.

Hirsh is still passionate about bringing this type of entertainment to town, especially this year.

"The feedback we have always gotten is that people really love a night out of entertainment and we kind of figure comedy is a perfect form of entertainment. People don't want to have to travel all the way into Calgary to see a comedy show or want to enjoy an evening out."

Hirsh says he hopes to bring something bigger and better next year, but in the meantime you can come on out to this year's shows.

"We really want to encourage people to come out and enjoy themselves and try to forget about all the stuff that is going on in the world and give them permission to come out and have a couple laughs."
