The westbound lanes of Highway 1 were closed last night (April 19) after a single vehicle collision near Cochrane.

Cochrane RCMP responded to a call of a jacknifed semi truck and trailer across the westbound lanes of the Trans Canada, five kilometres east of Highway 22.

The westbound lanes of the highway between the Calaway Park overpass and Highway 22 were completely impassable.

Westbound traffic was diverted and motorists leaving the City of Calgary were asked to use alternate routes.

Salvage crews worked throughout the night and an update from 511 Alberta confirmed traffic was flowing normally at 5:11 this morning.

No one was injured and there's currently no statement on the cause of the collision.
