An organization in Didsbury that looks out for the town's seniors has been nominated for provincial recognition.

Tammy de Graaf with the Town of Didsbury nominated the Didsbury and District Seniors Support Services for the 2017 Minister's Senior Service Award, and explained why she thinks their work deserves to be highlighted.

"They're a great program in Didsbury, and we've recently taken over from them so I've seen some of the great work that they've done for seniors. They just do everything and a lot of their time is volunteered."

She explained that one organizer deserves a lot of credit for all the work the organization does to take care of Didsbury's seniors.

"I think it's really great. Specifically Lois [Wright], she does a lot of work for Seniors Support. She's recently retired but all the work that she's done in the past year keeping the program going, doing the finance, all of that stuff, it really needs to be recognized."

The Senior Service Awards are to recognize people in the province that volunteer their time to make a difference in the lives of seniors. The Didsbury and District Seniors Support Services is one of twelve provincial organizations that is nominated.
