Three residents of the Stony Nakoda First Nation have been charged with kidnapping with a firearm and assault.

According to Cpl. Curtis Peters, Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a kidnapping on January 24, after the victim met with the suspects.

"It was a planned meeting related to drug activity and when he met with the people, he was taken against his will and held for a period of time. The individual was later released by the accused people and only sustained minor injuries."

36 year old Georgina Twoyoungmen, 23 year old Lyle Bearspaw and 26 year old Creig Amos were arrested in the following days. All three were charged with kidnapping with a firearm and assault.

The three were scheduled to appear in provincial court today (January 31).
