What started as the possibility of a Thunderstorm soon turned into something you'd only see in Hollywood.

Airdrie, Rocky View and Calgary were hit with a huge storm on July 30th that flooded streets and caused power to be knocked out in the southeast.

The cause of the outage, a lightning strike on a tree behind the community of Meadowbrook, which knocked the neighbouring power lines.

Power was knocked out to Meadowbrook and the surrounding communities including Thorburn, Ravenswood and King's Heights.

While crews from Fortis Alberta were busy removing the damaged tree, a section of West Bound Yankee Valley Blvd was closed off.

Power has since been restored to these neighbourhoods but clean-up is still going on as the blustery winds and strong hail left debris from trees scattering some roads.

Drivers still had to deal with driving through heavy pools of water as a result of the flash flooding that took place when the worst of the storm hit around 5pm.
