It was an exciting day last Friday in Airdrie's Cooperstown Promenade.

From 3-6 pm, locals were invited to come see Santa Claus, Mrs. Claus, and their live reindeer at the stage area in Cooperstown. The Christmas celebration fundraised for the Airdrie Food Bank by offering professional photographs with the Claus' as well as a food donation collection.

Families were able to indulge in free hot chocolate, coffee, and candy canes, and got to enjoy the company of Santa's live reindeer.

Christine Taylor of the Airdrie Food Bank shares how much was raised at the event.

"Nine hundred and fifteen dollars were raised from the photos and two hundred and three pounds of food donations were collected, which when converted into dollars, is five hundred and twenty-seven dollars and eighty-seven cents."

It was a chilly late afternoon but spirits remained high as families enjoyed the Christmas music and holiday cheer.

On behalf of the Airdrie Food Bank, Taylor is grateful for all those who showed up and supported the cause.

"Thank you so much for everybody who came out to Cooperstown Promenade last week. We were able to raise quite a lot of money and got a lot of food donations and we really appreciate it."
