The City of Airdrie has set out some strategic goals for the new year.

Dorian Kachur, Manager of Strategic Business Services said many different departments within the city have started working on a number of projects. The first being a public consultation policy.

"The policy will ensure we are engaging the public in a coordinated cohesive manner."

Another policy that is being drawn up is the inclusion of recreational cannabis to the city's bylaws. The first reading will be presented to city council on March 20th.

Kachur said plans are also being finalized for a presentation for 12,000 acres of annexed land in the SE. More details will be available soon.

A water conservation bylaw will be coming to council later this year that will include a proposal for time-of-day water restrictions for residents.

Some exciting news in road construction, the initial stages of the below-grade CPR underpass on Yankee Valley Blvd will begin this year. The extent of the project will take multiple years to complete.

For individuals who take transit, the city transit department is working on a mobile payment solution that they anticipate will be available by the end of the year.

Kachur said the city is fully engaged in receiving public feedback on any and all projects which can be done at city council when each project is presented.
