The City of Airdrie is looking for feedback from its residents regarding city services and facilities.

The Citizen Satisfaction Survey is held annually to help city officials gain insight as to what Airdonians find important, what they feel needs more work, and which areas they're most satisfied with. In the 2020 Citizen Satisfaction Survey, the areas Airdronains were most satisfied with were Airdrie Fire, Chinook Winds Park, and Recycling Depot Programs

The survey consists of questions about preferred communication methods, issues facing the city, topics the city should put more focus on, and satisfaction with specific services offered by the city.

Ryan Johnson, Corporate Strategy Advisor for the City of Airdrie, says the answers submitted in the survey don't directly affect funding, but they don't go unnoticed.

"We certainly use it to inform our planning and strategies to address the issues. In the past, when health care was a hot topic, we would always see 'access to healthcare' at the top of issues facing the city. With that, we ended up putting a lot of energy towards advocating to the province for additional funding. Then, once Urgent Care became open 24 hours, we saw healthcare drop off the top three on the survey."

Johnson says the success of the survey depends on how many people take part. The more feedback, the more accurate the data.

"Our consultant gathers two sets of data for us. One of them is a consistent year-over-year random sample of 400 responses The other one is an open survey opportunity that any resident, whether they're contacted by our consultant or not, can opt-in and take. We look at both the statistically valid representative sample and the open-ended feedback that we get."

As far as security and privacy go when taking part in the survey, Johnson says they have no way of knowing who provided any given response.
