The Airdrie Food Bank is hoping residents will donate any shopping bags they aren’t using.

The plastic and fabric grocery bags are needed to help clients transport the food they receive to their homes.

Communications manager Christine Taylor, said they will happily take the horde of bags you may have around the house.

“Plastic shopping bags are something everybody has; hopefully people recycle them, but if you don’t please don’t throw them out,” she said. “We could use them, we need them desperately.”

It’s easy to donate the bags. They can be dropped off at the Food Bank during regular hours, Monday to Friday between 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.

Taylor said they can also be placed in the food donation bins at grocery stores.
