Once again, the 100 Men in Airdrie Who Give A Damn gave $10,000 to local charities after their quarterly meeting earlier this week.

John Bowman with the group explains who were the recipients this time around.

“For the first time ever we had a tie: Airdrie Victims Assistance and Tails to Tell. Not having ran into that before we had a very short board meeting and decided to just split it 50/50 instead of having a draw or flipping a coin or something like that. We thought that was a fair thing to do.”

Bowman goes on to say that the third charity that presented, Airdrie POWER, came only three votes short in the final vote.

Although the group currently has 165 members registered, they were unable to reach their $10,000 goal before the meeting started, but they got some help.

“90 of them [members] payed up so we had $9,000,” says Bowman, “The remainder was made up by anonymous donations and Billy Martin’s from Martin’s Pest Control so we ended up giving away the $10,000.”

The next meeting for the 100 men takes place at the end of January and Bowman says that they’re always looking for more members to join.

“Our membership has grown but for whatever reason people maybe can’t afford it that quarter. We have 165 members but we can only give away what people have actually contributed and payed up so we’re always looking for new members.”
