The weather was perfect and the golfers were all smiles on June 4th for the 2nd Annual Hannah's Hope Golf Tournament.

Crossfield's Collicut Siding Golf Course was the site for this year's event which raised support and funds for Hannah's Hope Literacy Camp for Families living with Angelman's Syndrome.

Foundation President Sarah Rivard says the response from this year's tournament was extraordinary.

"It was an overwhelming success, we had many returning golfers and many new golfers who praised the event and definitely said they'll never miss it again."

Rivard says that over $12,000 was raised at the tournament with the proceeds coming from silent auction Items, local sponsors, and sales of 50/50 tickets and Mulligan cards.

This is the first year the tournament was held under Hannah's Hope with the foundation given official status as of February 2016.

Rivard explains what Angelman's Syndrome is and how it affects children.

"It affects many things: growth motor, fine motor, balance, seizure and sleep disturbances and speech."

With the success of Hannah's Hope and the Literacy Camp, Rivard says they're making sure no family has to work with this syndrome alone.

"To help educate and support families, empower them and educate them and educators on how to support our children as a whole in the natural environments and in the school environments with speaking on a device so giving them a voice."

Plans are aleady underway for next year's tournament and you can find out more about Hannah's Hope at their official website.
