If you're looking to hit the greens , then you may want to head to Carstairs in support of the Cystic Fibrosis (CF) Foundation.

On Monday July 25, 80 golfers will tee off starting at 11am at the the Carstairs Golf Club.

The Friends of Cystic Fibrosis Golf Classic has been an annual event for the past 21 years.

Chairwoman Kayley MacLennan says the event helps breathe life into finding a cure to fight the disease.

"Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease and one that I hold near and dear to my heart because my little brother has CF. It's a genetic disease that causes issues with the lungs and digestive system so most CF patients do need a double lung transplant sometime in their life. All money raised goes to the Foundation to help find a cure for CF."

Prognosis is getting better with more research being done for Cystic Fibrosis.

"Prognosis was not good. A lot of kids had a lot of trouble through their puberty years but now with research, with donations from people, and tournaments like this, the prognosis has actually been increased to the age of 50."

MacLennan says they're hoping to host 80 golfers and are halfway to their goal which is slower than normal. MacLennan adds the down turn in the economy is tough on annual events.

"I find registration has been down this year and same with donations. It has been really hard to try and get donations this year, we are still looking for team prizes, silent auction items, and hole items."

The cost to enter the tournament is $150 which includes, lunch, dinner, green fees and cart for 18 holes, team and hole prizes.

If you would like to register or provide sponsorship to the event you can either email kayleymaclennan@gmail.com.
