The deadline to pay your property taxes is coming up fast, and you'll want to make sure you get that done on time.

"The tax deadline, of course, is June 30," said Shannon Schindeler, Manager of Treasury with the City of Airdrie, "If they are not paid by three business days following that date, penalties will occur."

The penalty for not getting your taxes paid on time is 5%.

Schindeler said that the majority of residents have their taxes paid already through a payment plan.

"I believe there's about 80 percent of our residents that either are on the payment plan through the City of Airdrie or through their financial institution."

Schindeler said there are always some stragglers that come in at the last minute, so City Hall will be busy on Friday. For those that still need to make a payment, there are a number of options.

"They can contact us to work out a payment plan at anytime. We will work with the resident. Or, I know residents can talk to their financial institution and make arrangements with them as well."

Payment can be made in person at City Hall, through your bank or credit union, or by cheque. You can learn more here.
