The Alberta Institute for Wildlife Conservation (AIWC) is hosting 'Who's In Your Backyard' on Sunday, July 24th.

An on-site talk will educate those in attendance on wildlife in Alberta, and the measures being taken to protect them.

"95 percent of the cases that we admit to our center are result of human conflict in someway," said Holly Duvalle, Executive Director at the AIWC. "So we really feel that the more we are known to the community, the more animals we can help, but also the more education we can spread, the more animals we can help as well."

Following the presentaion, a guided tour of sections of the AIWC's facilities will be provided, and there will be a chance to meet educational ambassadors Gulliver the striped skunk, and Griffin the red-tailed hawk.

Participants will learn about the life cycles of different wild animals, the roles they play in our ecosystem, and the reasons they are admitted to the AIWC centre.

The AIWC gained international attention last week, when a video of 'Kit' a baby beaver in their care, went viral.

"He's doing really well, we're really impressed with how well his tail has healed." said Duvalle.

If you are unable to make Sunday's event, another on-site talk will be held in October, focused on the migration of birds.

Those who wish to attend must register online before hand. Registration is still open, but space is limited.
