An armed robbery that took place on November 28, 2018, at a Shell Gas and convenience store in Airdrie was the subject of a month-long investigation by the Airdrie RCMP.

RCMP were called to the gas station in Coopers Landing at approximately 10:20 a.m. after a male suspect walked into the store with a handgun and began demanding money and other store items from the clerk. He then fled the scene on foot.

An arrest has been made by the Airdrie RCMP General Investigation Section in connection to the armed robbery.

Airdrie residents gave RCMP surveillance footage to help the case move forward.

The male is being charged with Robbery with a Firearm and will be facing a total of six Criminal Code Offences.

Since the offender is 17-years-old, he will not be identified due to the protection of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He has been released from RCMP custody under strict regulations while he waits to attend Airdrie Provincial Court on February 7, 2019.
