A 40-year-old Airdrie man is in hot water after stealing a truck then attempting to siphon gas for it from a private property in Clearwater County on Saturday (March 9).

RCMP in Sundre received a report of a man siphoning gas from a vehicle from the property.  When they arrived on scene they found the man had already fled on foot.  The vehicle he had been driving was located nearby and was determined to be stolen.

Police Dog Services out of Red Deer were called to assist in the search while officers from both the Sundre and Rocky Mountain House RCMP detachments contained the search area.

The suspect was tracked through heavy snow for almost two hours by the police dogs.  He was eventually located and arrested inside a gas well site that he'd broken into.

Brent William Madill of Airdrie was charged with Possession of Stolen Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000, Mischief under $5,000, Break and Enter, Theft under $5,000 and Causing a Disturbance.

Madill is scheduled to appear for his first court date sometime today in Calgary.
