Airdronians can expect some strong winds over the next 72 hours that will bring warm air crashing into Airdrie.

According to Sarah Hoffman meteorologist with Environment Canada says the conditions will continue throughout the week with many places in Alberta being under a wind warning.

"So we are expecting some chinook conditions to continue throughout the week until Friday with strong winds in the southwest area of the province but Airdrie should see some winds up to 50 kilometres an hours."

Chinook winds are caused when warm wet air from the Pacific ocean rises over the mountains and down into Alberta.

Airdrie is expecting temperatures in the double digits over the next two days with no precipitation expected this week.

Temperatures are expected to drop back around seasonal temperatures over the weekend.
