A family that has been through so much in the past ten months now faces having to move hotels after their son's insurance was charged full price for rooms in the one they've been staying in since July.

Tom and Michelle Straschnitzki, along with their son Ryan who was paralyzed in the Humboldt Broncos bus tragedy last April and their other children are planning to pack up and leave the Wingate Hotel for another hotel in Airdrie.  Tom Straschnitzki didn't want to say which hotel just yet but says the family is getting a fair rate for their rooms.

Last week Straschnitzki revealed that the Wingate had been billing Ryan's insurance full price for their rooms after initially telling them they were welcome to stay there at no charge.  The dispute arose after renovations being made on the Straschnitizki home had taken longer than originally thought to complete.

The Wingate agreed to let the family stay for free from July until October 6th, the original date renovations were to be done.  When it became apparent the renovations, being done to accommodate Ryan's mobility issues, would take much longer, Tom renegotiated with hotel management to pay the hotel tax and GST for the remainder of the family's stay and gave them their insurance number for the billing.  Recently, he found out that the hotel had been billing full price for the rooms.  The bill came to around $12,000 per month since October.

Straschnitzki says the family got together recently and decided moving out was the only option.  "Yeah, we think it's better," says Straschnitzki.  "Me and Michelle and the family sat down and went, I think it's best if we just get out of here."

Straschnitzki says he hopes that the move to the next hotel won't be for a long time since renovations on their home are moving along well.

"Well it passed inspection on Wednesday and they should be drywalling on Monday.  We think we'll be back in by mid-April."
