In a presentation that Mayor Peter Brown said was well put together, the Stop the Stench movement presented their issues with the Thorlakson Feedyards owned feedlot east of the city.

The feedlot, due to composting animal waste and material, has been producing a smell that the Stop the Stench movement says is offensive. Lead presenter Dennis Gieck showed a slideshow featuring photos of the site and its location in regard to the city of Airdrie and locals. Photos of animal corpses in a pile decomposing, fecal-ridden water and the site itself were also a part of the slideshow.

A number of councilors admitted to smelling the stench a few times in Airdrie.

The feedlot, located just east of Airdrie in Rocky View County, is out of Airdrie's jurisdiction and can therefore not be affected by bylaws. Rocky View County recently passed a land use change to allow the feedlot to compost the materials creating the smell.
