August Long Weekend is upon us and RCMP are reminding you to take your time on the roads this weekend.

"Be patient, the traffic could be heavy in regards to people trying to get to their destinations as well as the general public. Just take your time, be patient with the other drivers and follow the traffic laws," said Corporal Gary Fedrau.

RCMP patrolling will be taking place this weekend to ensure drivers aren't driving distracted, under the influence, or over the posted speed limit.

"We'll have our regular patrols out there, as well. There is possibility of some enhanced check stops and enhanced patrols throughout the weekend in different jurisdictions."

Traffic will be heavier than usual on the highways and RCMP are encouraging drivers to take their time, give yourself plenty of time to arrive at your destination and be patient with the other drivers sharing the road.

"Make sure you travel safely to arrive at your destination, enjoy your weekend, and hopefully it goes off without a hitch," said Cpl. Fedrau.
