Nearly 300 people braved a cold north wind and temperatures hovering around zero to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for mankind.

St. Paul's Catholic Church and the Airdrie Catholic Prayer Group held their annual outdoor Way of the Cross, or Via Cruces, along the pathways at Nose Creek Park.

Roman soldiers led the faithful on their processional that is meant to re-enact Christ's trial, crucifixion and resurrection that stops to offer prayers and ask for blessings at 14 stations of the cross along the way.

Members of several other Airdrie congregations joined the people of St. Paul's to recognize this day, considered by most to be the most important day of the year for Christians.
