Students at Windsong Heights School had a special guest in their midst this morning (September 19).

Leon Logothesis, creator and star of "The Kindness Diaries", spoke to the students today spreading the important message of kindness.

The topic isn't new to teacher Ali Apels, who helped bring Logothetis to the school. While working for RJ Hawkey School, Apels started the Kindness Ninjas program last year, which has now gained international fame.

"It was a program that was initially created to spread Christmas cheer in December and it took on a whole life of its own. We ended up having a huge global movement, recruiting Kindness Ninjas from all over the globe and Leon Logothetis was one of them."

Apels said that last year, the Ninjas had the chance to have a Skype call with Logothetis and even sent him one of their Kindness Packages.

Last spring, Logothetis approached Apels about the chance to come speak at her school, which her and Principal Penny Beaudry gratefully accepted.

Apels said she was inspired by the talk this morning, and can't believe how successful the Kindness Ninjas program has been.

"I just feel that the work we did with Kindness Ninjas last year, it just all fell into place so beautifully. It will never be the same again."

She hopes to start a program at Windsong Heights later in the school year.
