Airdrie RCMP is cracking down on speeding for the month of April.

It’s part of the Alberta Traffic Safety Action Plan which provides a province-wide coordinated approach highlighting priority traffic safety topics each month.

April is speeding awareness month and RCMP will be targeting School Zones, Playground Zones and some of Airdrie's busiest corridors.

Mounties are reminding drivers that speeding can have dangerous and even deadly consequences.

·         The speed limit in school zones and playground zones is 30 km/hr.

·         The faster you are driving, the more braking distance you will require.

·         If you drive fast, you have less time to react to dangers and objects.

·         The impact of a vehicle collision increases significantly when speeding.

·         The posted speed limit is the maximum permitted when conditions are favourable.

Airdrie RCMP is asking all drivers to pay attention to speed limits and do their part to ensure the roads are safe for everyone.
