Airdrie’s own Kimberley Ford could be on the next season of Masterchef Canada after auditioning in Calgary last weekend.

Ford originally applied to the show last season but didn’t get a call back to audition.

That changed this year when the show’s producers contacted her.

“At that time I was completely floored of course. They had to do a telephone audition and then they came back to me and said I had wowed them in my audition and they wanted to know if I could come down to Calgary for the Alberta and Saskatchewan auditions for Masterchef Canada season 6.”

The audition in Calgary brought around 30 applicants from Alberta and Saskatchewan to battle for a spot on the popular Canadian TV Show.

Ford was asked how she would feel if she was named the next Masterchef.

“I said, it’s so exciting that I just would love to make my family proud of me and make the City of Airdrie proud of me for being on the show. Really that’s what it’s all about to meet some wonderful people and have that amazing experience of a lifetime.”

The audition required participants to plate a premade dish in just 3 minutes and Ford held nothing back.

“I made a Lobster Bisque because I am the Souper Lady, then I made a chilli salt cod cake in the centre. I wanted to incorporate Airdrie somehow so I got microgreens from my friends at Micro Acres. Then I had a Blood Orange infused oil from On Tap to drizzle around the outside of the soup.”

Ford will find out by October 20th if she will fly to Toronto to be apart of Masterchef season 6.
