You might be wondering what's up with the new buses that Airdrie Transit has been using lately.

Transit Coordinator Chris MacIssacs said they're not new buses, just temporary vehicles.

"We have leased the smaller buses from our contract provider for just a few months while we wait for the new buses to be delivered that will be for use on local transit."

Airdrie Transit is awaiting their new local vehicles to replace their now former fleet, which has been around since 2010.

"The older buses are seven years old at this point," said MacIssacs. "It's an opportunity for us to use our grant dollars from the Province to purchase new vehicles that will make our service more reliable and more sustainable."

MacIssacs did not have an official date on the arrival for the new buses but said they should be ready by early 2018.
