Two days after the Sobey's Liquor Store in Sierra Springs was robbed, it was targeted for theft again.

According to Airdrie RCMP, a lone man entered the store at approximately 7:45 pm on January 26, talking on a blue cell phone. The man asked an employee if the store had any Cognac. After being shown to the shelves, the man looked at the Cognac and then left the store.

The employee became suspicious, as the whole thing took place very quickly. After looking at security footage, it turned out the man had grabbed a bottle of Jagermeister valued at $113.00 and placed it in his pocket before leaving the store.

While the crime appears small, Cst. Dan Martin explained criminals all start their careers somewhere, often with small thefts that gradually escalate to bigger crimes like property theft or person's crimes including assault.

"In our eyes, no crime is too small and we definitely seek to solve all of them. We're just hoping that somebody in the public recognizes him and will come forward and let us know."

The suspect is described as a 30-35 years old-year-old Caucasian male, very short with light brown hair and a clean shaven face. He was wearing a black jacket, grey sweater, blue t-shirt, blue jeans and grey Nike sneakers.

The man arrived and left the store as a passenger in an older model Dodge Ram Truck, either gold or tan in colour.

The crime occurred just two days after a lone man walked into the same store, demanded cash and told an employee he had a firearm. In that case, the suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.

"This store has taken measures to ensure their own security as well as keeping the staff safe there. They are in a high traffic area of Airdrie, being in that southwest corner right by Walmart and some of the bigger stores, so there is a lot of people coming into that area."

Martin said besides the location, they aren't sure why the store is targeted so frequently.
