Soap for Hope is turning three and to celebrate, they are opening up their new location. However, the Airdrie born program will not be opening up in Airdrie.

Their new location is located in Calgary and is a bigger space for the fast-growing Soap for Hope.

Michelle Edgar, program director for Soap for Hope, described what they do there.

"We collect used hotel amenities and recycle and repurpose those and donate them back into the community into shelters, into community outreach programs, schools, individuals, anybody that needs it."

Despite starting at Edgars "kitchen table" Soap for Hope could not find a home in Airdrie.

"We needed donated space and we were unable to acquire space in Airdrie. The city of Airdrie was helping us with space and they needed it back, so we had to find a new location and a bigger location."

Edgar said she was sad to be leaving their home.

"We were a little bit sad because all of us live in Airdrie and our hearts kind of belong to Airdrie, but it's good for the program. We're able to help more people and reach out to more people. We still will always be able to service Airdrie."

Even though their new location is out of the city, Soap for Hope will continue their services in Airdrie.

"Absolutely. We work with all of the community support organizations in Airdrie, so if anyone needs assistance, they can go through those programs or contact us directly, and we will deliver something to them in Airdrie."

Tonight, there will be a grand celebration for the new location.

"We have our third anniversary and our grand re-opening celebration at our new warehouse space. It is from 1 to 7. We will be celebrating. We have some really good food coming from The Superlady and we have some activities and silent auctions planned so it should be really good and a lot of fun."

"We invite all the Airdrie people to come and visit and say hello. See how we've grown and how they can still help and support us and how we can support them."

Edgar said she was touched to see them growing this much and this quickly.

"It is unbelievable. I never imagined that we would grow this quickly, this fast and it is a beautiful thing to see that so many people have come forward to support us through volunteering or (donating) warehouse space or furniture or monetary donations. It's really incredible to see how people support this program and what we're doing."
