It may not come as a surprise but with the heavy snowfall amounts, some records have not only been broken but completely shattered.

 The Calgary Region sustained massive amounts of snowfall over the past 48 hours enough to shatter previous records. 

Calgary's previous record was set in 1954 on October 2nd was 4.6 cms as of 4 p.m October 2nd the city had received 28 cms. 

The monthly record was set on October 4th in 1914 and it was an accumulation of 29.7 centimetres. 

Environment Canada is predicting an additional 5cms of snow overnight in Airdrie and Calgary is expecting another 5-10cms. 

 More precipitation is being seen on radar making its way to Banff, Kananaskis and eventually Calgary and Airdrie. 

In the short term forecast, we will see a high of five degrees with bits of sun throughout the day. 

Environment Canada is predicting more snow on the weekend.
