The past few days have been gloomy and snowy for thousands in Airdrie, but there's some relief on the way.

Brian Proctor, a Meteorologist with Environment Canada, explains that the heaviest snow is now just about done with only a chance of snow after this morning.   Yesterday (March 2), Environment Canada says 13 centimetres of snow fell in the Airdrie region but their forecast also says, once tomorrow rolls around, there's no mention of snow for the next five days.

Once the snow clears away, a chinook system will eventually roll in.

"Those minus eights to minus tens is what we're going to see for highs over the weekend, they're probably going to sort of gradually moderate into Monday sort of minus fours for highs. We're looking for positive temperatures by sort of Wednesday, Thursday with the overnight lows dropping back to about the minus five mark and the daytime highs being plus three, plus four."

However, the one question that everyone in the city will be asking is this: does this mean we're done with winter?

"We're never out of the woods in Alberta. We all get a little fatigued with winter and a little bit of tired of the cold and tired of the snowfall, especially the communities along the Foothills that have seen quite a bit this winter. We do tend to get our heaviest snowfalls in the springtime."

Sunday's high is forecast to reach minus 8, with temperatures climbing to one degree by Thursday.  Friday's forecast calls for sunshine and a high of five.
