Once again, the generosity of Cochrane is on display.

Santa's Cabin at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre has been raising money for families in need for three years. This year the Cochrane Activettes and Cochrane Food Bank are recipients of funds raised.

Brian Neave, Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, Assistant General Manager, spearheaded a Christmas event with a silent auction to go along with Santa’s Cabin and the Lionesses Festival of Trees. The event raised over $1800 which Neave used to buy much needed supplies for the Cochrane Food Bank; all the toys that adorn Santa's Cabin are also being donated to the Activettes adding to the "Share Your Christmas Campaign."

"All of the money raised from Santa's Cabin visits and the silent auction from items donated from 10 very generous local businesses was reclaimed and turned into food and toys to be given to local families."

Neave says the generosity of the folks in Cochrane is like nothing he has ever seen before, making him very proud to be part of the community. Shopping for the food bank with all the donations was a highlight for him.  They selected items most needed at the Food Bank.

"It was humbling to for me to go shopping and delivering items to the food bank for people I didn't even know. It is great to be part of an outstanding community."

Donations are accepted at SLSFSC throughout the year, for any charity.
