An unexpected conversation came out of last nights city council meeting.

The first thing on the docket list was a presentation by a local resident who claims his ability to enjoy his backyard, open a window and troubles with his physical health can all be attributed to the smoke from his neighbour's backyard fire pit. The resident said his neighbour is constantly having fires in their backyard often late into the evening.

The resident suggested implementing some restrictions as to when residents can have backyard fires, such being dependent on the conditions outside and time of day. Even though the discussion was just brainstorming there seemed to be a consensus that 11 p.m was a reasonable time to implement a restriction.

The issue the resident is facing was relatable to many of the councillors and council has agreed to look into the possibility of implementing a new bylaw pertaining to the use of backyard fire pits.
