You may have been one of the many Airdrie homes to go without power this morning (December 7).

According to Alana Antonelli, Manager of Communications with Fortis Alberta, approximately 5,400 customers in Airdrie suffered a power outage. Antonelli confirmed that the cause of the outage was caused by a motor vehicle accident that knocked down a pole.

Fortis Alberta was able to restore all power quickly through their automated system at their control centre in Airdrie by 8:30 this morning.

The areas that were affected by the power outage were the communities of Sagewood, Reunion, and Williamstown, as well as west of Airdrie from HWY 567 to Symons Valley area.
