An 44 year old Olds man will appear in Didsbury Court today (February 16) after he was arrested earlier in the week for a high number of outstanding charges in multiple communities.

Cpl. Curtis Peters said the Southern Alberta Crime Reduction Team (SACRT) conducted a targeted investigation to bring in the repeat offender after they were made aware of his many outstanding warrants.

"They located and arrested Morgan Winter, a resident of Olds, who was a subject of an arrest warrant on a total of 63 charges. All of these charges were from four different jurisdictions: Olds, Innisfail, Didsbury as well as from Calgary Police."

The SACRT is a new unit geared towards reducing crime in the region by targeting repeat offenders through intelligence led policing. They used that intelligence led policing to bring in Winter.

"They did their background checks and determined where he might be located and obtained some information that was able to help them locate him and bring him into custody."

Winter was arrested on Tuesday (February 13) without incident.

"The charges that he had outstanding warrants for were all property crime type offenses. There was thefts of vehicles, forgery, frauds as well as several counts of failing to attend court. Those were the bulk of the warrants."

He will appear in court today via CCTV.
