It's no surprise that Rocky View Schools continues to grow, prompting the Division Board to ask for more help from the Provincial Government.

Last week, School Trustees voted unanimously to send a proposal to the Ministry of Education asking for 23 modular classrooms starting in the 2018-2019 school year.

The move comes as many schools in the division are expected to be at capacity or over within the next two years, meaning more space is required.

Of the 23 modulars requested, 10 of those are hoping to make their way to Windsong Heights and Heloise Lorimer Schools in Airdrie.

Windsong Heights has already enrolled 677 students in it's first year of operating. That number though is expected to jump to 885 by next year, which will already put them over capacity if more space isn't built.

Heloise Lorimer School faces a similar crunch as their enrollment is expected to climb to 760 by next fall, which is also over capacity.

East Lake School in Chestermere and Langdon School are the others requesting the modulars.

The proposal will be sent to the Ministry of Education with a final decision on whether they'll approve the 23 modulars by January.
