The men and women who will lead Rocky View Schools for the next four years were officially sworn in this morning (October 24th)

Superintendent Greg Luterbach joined Associate Superintendent Darrell Couture in welcoming the 8 trustees that will form the RVS Board.

For the first time Airdrie will have three representatives for Ward 3 after Todd Brand, Melyssa Bowen and Jim Forrest were elected last Monday.

Brand will be returning to his post in Airdrie and says he is looking forward to working with newcomers Bowen and Forrest.

"Everything I know about them, they are just absolutely outstanding, first candidates, now they'll be outstanding trustees, they're going to do a great job. I'm looking forward to the whole process of team building and getting to know the entire board."

Melyssa Bowen has volunteered numerous times for local school councils and hopes to continue to reach out to them in the coming months and years.

"Honestly, the most exciting thing to me is getting to engage with our community. I love going out to council meetings, I'm really looking forward to attending school council meetings. Hearing from parents what's kinda working for them and what we can work on."

Former C.W. Perry School Principal Jim Forrest is entering his first term as Trustee but his passion to put education first will always be there.

"I'm looking forward to being able to lend my voice to Rocky View School Division and education in Rocky View. I appreciate the support that has been shown to me throughout the campaign and I hope that I can do a worthy job."

The other Trustees that were sworn in include Shali Baziuk in Ward 1 (Chestermere), Patty Sproule for Ward 2 (Langdon, Indus), Norma Lang in Ward 4 (Crossfield, Beiseker, Kathyrn), Judi Hunter in Ward 5 (Bragg Creek, Springbank, Westbrook, Bearspaw) and Fiona Gilbert for Ward 6 (Cochrane).
