It's budget time for most municipalities, counties and municipal districts and the same can be said for Rocky View County.

This week, County Council approved the 2019 operating and capital budget.  Council gave their approval to an operating budget of $71,270,500 and a capital budget of $52,322,800.

Rocky View County is proud of their long-standing tradition of having low residential property tax rates and highly competitive non-residential tax rates, and that tradition will continue in the next year.

The average residential property owner will pay an additional $5.95 per month extra in 2019,  based on an average property value of $948,000.  That's a rise of just three percent.

Non-residential property taxes for businesses or commercial enterprises in the County will also see an average increase of three percent.

The County says the business environment remains strong and none of the non-residential tax bill was transferred to residential landowners, nor did the County use any "rainy day" funds to reduce the amount.
