At Thursday's (April 13) Rocky View School Board meeting, the board voted on the approval to acquire a number of locally developed courses for schools in the division.

A locally developed course is a curriculum that is not given by Alberta Education, but rather developed locally by a school district. In this case, Rocky View wanted to acquire a number of Film & Media Arts courses and one Technical Theatre course developed by the Calgary School Board.

Trustees voted unanimously to start offering the courses at Rocky View Schools.

The courses will be offered for both three and five credits. The Film & Media Arts courses will cover topics such as photography, video production and animation. The courses will be offered starting in the fall, running through 2021.
