Relay For Life is back for another year in the fight against cancer.

Last year’s race raised over $77,200, thanks to volunteers, sponsors, participants, survivors and supporters.

“I’m a strong supporter of Relay For Life - I know firsthand what type of impact the money raised can have," said Carrie Walk-Boyd, Hodgkin lymphoma survivor and Relay For Life participant. "The stem cell transplant I underwent as a part of my treatment was the result of research funded by the Canadian Cancer Society.”

In total, Relay For Life has raised over $496.5 million for the Canadian Cancer Society.

Money raised through Relay For Life allows the Canadian Cancer Society to continue to fund the most promising cancer research, support programs and services for people living with the disease, comprehensive cancer information, preventative initiatives, and advocacy for healthy public policy.

This year’s race will feature a 'survivors lap' which will see participants show their support for those who have won the fight against cancer, as they walk a lap around the track.

The race takes place at the Genesis Place outdoor track on Saturday, June 18th, from 6pm - 12pm.
