Alberta RCMP detachments continue to respond to collisions in many parts of the province and are warning holiday travelers of poor weather and driving conditions that they may face.

Last night in the Cochrane area, RCMP say Highway 1, Highway 1-A, Highway 22 and most other roads west of Calgary were in poor condition because of heavy snowfall and blowing snow which was causing reduced visibility.

Yesterday afternoon, Fox Creek RCMP were dispatched to a pair of multi-vehicle crashes on Highway 43.  One man was killed in the first pile-up.

The RCMP say, in the interest of trying to keep everyone safe this holiday season, they recommend travel only if necessary.

511Alberta says snowplows are out on many provincial roads so you need to be aware of their presence and allow them room to work.
