Over the past week, many community Social Media pages have posted stories of attempted abductions and people driving a suspicious van through the City.

Late last night (October 23rd), Airdrie RCMP responded to those posts, saying that the two initial complaints of attempted abductions have been reported to them and they are being investigated.

However, Police believe that those two incidents are not related, saying the descriptions are not consistent in nature, leading them to conclude that it's not the actions of one individual attempting the abductions.

Since those incidents were reported, RCMP have received other reports of a suspicious man driving a van through the city, which also made their way through social media.

Police say that those incidents are also not consistent, with several vans being reported over the last few days. RCMP conclude that those driving the vehicles were just citizens going about their day.

"As a mother and as a part of this community, I can well appreciate the concern that people have with the reports that are out there right now,” says Inspector Kim Pasloske, commanding officer of Airdrie RCMP,  “Unfortunately, that concern can lead to sharing of incomplete or inaccurate information online which impedes the police investigation. I would ask that everyone refrain from sharing heresay online and report any facts they have to our investigators so we can determine what took place in each of these incidents.”

RCMP remind you to report any suspicious activity to them, and be cautious about posts that are placed on social media.
