Airdrie RCMP responded to a call in the Big Springs community yesterday morning (Sept 4) regarding a domestic disturbance.

Cst. Dan Martin explains what happened when they arrived just after 3:00 am.

“Airdrie RCMP were able to make contact with the victim who had escaped from the house. There was obviously a lot of noise and commotion in the area so the RCMP felt we should alert the public that nobody was in any danger and everything was resolved quite peacefully.”

Cst. Martin says that the woman escaped the residence but it took Police a while to apprehend the man involved in the dispute.

“The male suspect would not come out of the house. A warrant was obtained by Airdrie RCMP and Police Dog Services were contacted to assist in the arrest of the suspect. Upon making entry into the house, the suspect was fully cooperative with RCMP and was arrested without incident.”

The 33-year-old man from Airdrie faces charges of assault, assault with a weapon and mischief under $5000.

RCMP are not releasing any further details including names to protect the identity of the victim.
