The RCMP Serious Crimes Branch is still investigating an incident from August 2nd where a German tourist was shot in the head.

“The driver was rushed to hospital and has later been flown back to Germany, that happened earlier this week,” says Cpl. Curtis Peters, “There’s no update on his condition, the latest update that we have is that he will suffer long altering injuries as a result of this shooting incident.”

Police say that they have no suspects at the moment and are appealing to the public for any information they might have.

Peters clarified a couple matters of the investigation that were originally reported, the first being that both vehicles were driving Eastbound on the Highway at the time. It was originally reported that one was driving Westbound.

RCMP haven’t ruled out the possibility that this was an act of road rage but can’t say for certain if any altercation happened.

“We haven’t unearthed anything in the investigation that suggests that there was a conflict that took place leading up to the shooting. All investigational avenues are still open, however, there’s nothing to signify or point us solidly in that direction.”

RCMP have released photos of the victim’s vehicle as well as a map showing the timeline of the incident.

Police did have one man and his car in custody following the incident but were released shortly after.

“Both that individual who was taken into custody, as well as that vehicle, have been fully investigated and we are ruling them out as being involved in this incident.”

If you have any information regarding the incident, you’re asked to contact the RCMP.
