The RCMP are hiring, and trying to diversify their recruits.

With many shying away from a career in law enforcement, enrollment in training facilities is a top priority.

"A lot of RCMP believe that it's very important for recruitment to be a priority, and we wanna make sure that we are trying to increase the diversity within RCMP to more represent Canada across the board." Cst. Penelope Gavin, RCMP.

According to Gavin, enrollment across Canada is at around 63% of where they would like it to be by March 2017. Here in Alberta, it's at 50%.

Earlier in November, the RCMP put out a call for more female officers through their "Women in Policing" career presentation. Racial and sexual orientation is also among their top diversification goals.

"We believe if we are more diverse, we can better serve most of Canadians." said Gavin.
